Albatross
The burdens that you carry
Have shackled all your dreams
And buried you with sands from Time
Despite your spirit’s screams…
You scoffed at having faith,
You laughed at what is true,
And now the bony hands of Fate
Have thrown them back at you.
You stumble 'long your journey
Your heart can’t take the weight,
Providence has knocked and knocked
But still you hesitate…
And the groundswell of your worries
Now floods each waking hour,
The albatross around your neck
Has taken on new power…
So where do you go from here-
How do you swim ashore?
When swelling tides still tug you down
To drown you more and more?
The answer to this impasse
Lies in the currents of your soul,
You must still yourself and rest…
Stop striving for control…
You must still yourself and listen
To the whispers from His voice—
Be still and know that God is God...
Then feel your soul rejoice!
