End of Summer

I'll put away the sandals
And tune in on some football
For now with summer's end
We begin the Rites of Fall

I'll never see the thrill there
And don't understand the craze
Of passing round a pigskin
(My daughter even plays!)

But I'll join the happy tailgates
(The parties in the lots)
And relish all the goodies
That all the fans have brought

And when there is a touchdown
I'll join the roaring crowd,
Just watch for MY conversion
From too timid to too loud!
