Halos For Heroes

This is just to say, I'm grateful for what you do,
When it comes to dedication, most haven't got a clue-
Of what you do from day to day,
Of offerings unseen,
Gracious gifts, you freely give,
That most of us would deem
A price too high to ever pay-in Life, or our vocation,
And for these deeds, I want to say,
You've gained my admiration.
If in my power, I'd freely give
A halo to each hero,
For EMT'S and deputies,
Or those working at Ground Zero,
For cops in every city, or patrolman on the road,
These halos would be polished up,
And on their heads bestowed.
I'll hold you close, within my heart,
My prayers for you ascending-
For I can trust, from each day's start,
My life, you'll be defending!
