Summoned by a Shadow

I was summoned by a shadow

It said come and follow me,

It beckoned with its finger-

I followed happily

It took me on a pathway

With gleaming trees of white

And lured me down a road

Of dappled leaves and light.

I was summoned by a shadow

To find new fields of green

And look to new horizons

To see the not yet seen.

It called me in soft whispers

That stole my very heart

It offered me its hand

To heal the hurting parts.

I was summoned by a shadow

Recalled to love again,

And now I need my shadow,

My light, my love, my friend.
