"The Blue Bunny"
There are some things in life you just can't explain. Maybe you're not supposed
to… because if you do, it takes away the mystery and the miracle of the moment.
One of those moments came to me in the form of a blue Easter Bunny. I had bought
my son one of those little talking bunnies one Easter, the ones that when you
squeeze the tummy, they say something silly. Well, this one exclaimed
gleefully," Some BUNNY loves you!" followed by little bunny giggles. That poor
blue bunny was literally squeezed a thousand times and those words could no
longer be squeezed out of him. We tried, you could press that tummy all day long
from every angle and those words were not going to come forth.
I had been struggling with depression and some personal issues for some time and
the darkness of those feelings was getting a little overwhelming. I wrestled
with my faith too and wondered why God couldn't just change things or make them
simply go away. One day while cleaning my son's room, I simply threw my hands up
to heaven and shouted, "Are you really there, God? Do you even care?"
I had no more than thrown those words to God when out of the corner of the room,
words were thrown right back at me, "SOME BUNNY LOVES YOU!" No one was near
that bunny to squeeze his tummy to illicit those words. No one was there except
God of course.
I could only laugh at the sense of humor from a God that would use a silly
little bunny to show me that He loves me and is there to give me strength
through the tough times. Some of His ways are subtle, so subtle if you're not
paying attention you might miss them and others…well, others can take the shape
of blue bunnies.
Happy Easter!
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that who so ever
believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3: 16
