The Light in Heroes

I have some valiant heroes
But not of the usual kind,
They never make the papers
Or bask in bold headlines...

The little woman with sweet silver hair,
Who leaves me notes of gold--
And encourages me so endlessly
Won't fit their hero mold...

Then there's some-- that have given much
Yet they give and give some more
The old soldier who still stands fearlessly
Long after blasts of war...

The young woman of such tender years
Who struggles just to be---
To be the woman that she once was
Before her injury...

And then my family whose love I have
No matter where I am
Whose midnight prayers have guided me
For all of my life span...

My steadfast friends are heroes too
For their hands have held mine fast,
And imparted so tenaciously
Iron will within their clasp.

The light in heroes gives us strength
To shine in Life ablaze-
And become the courage for our soul
To make our weakness brave...
