Those Before Me

Those who have gone before me-
My mother and her mother too,
Have left their mark upon me
In all I think and do.

The times that I remember
From my earliest youthful dreams,
Were molded by each moment,
I spent with both my queens.

If I can leave the impact
Of a treasured legacy,
I pray it is no less-
Than this one left to me…

This legacy, so sterling,
Is a testament of care,
It leads me and it guides me
Just like a whispered prayer.
